A charming small group of pubs, The Draft House aim to create the perfect public house where you can experience great beer, good food, interesting people and great conversation. I have only been in the Northcote Road Draft House and can honestly say that they have nailed it. They take beer very seriously in the choice, storing and serving. You’ll find eighteen beers on tap and more than fifty bottled beers to choose from, many from artisan and local breweries like Sambrooks (Battersea) and Meantime (Greenwich) all with the correct matching glasses. Their food has the same attention and was recently rated 4 out 5 stars by Time Out. I took my parents here and they loved it too.
It is a little small as a bar because they have taken the back up with the restaurant but if you can get in and grab a seat or sit outside basking in the sun on Northcote Road then it is perfect. Clean, bright walls and distressed look green painted wooden chairs add to the look of the place as do the quirky pictures and posters on the walls – especially the Super Mario Bros wallpaper in the toilets :-).
I also love the way that you can buy 3 thirds of a pint for the same price as one pint (served in ‘Home Of The Third‘ Draft House glasses) which makes trying everything easy and enjoyable as well as inexpensive – great if you can’t decide or don’t know where to start!
“At a time when an estimated 38 pubs close every week, the ebulliently persuasive 43-year-old entrepreneur Charlie McVeigh has opened three successful Draft House pubs in London, and is actively looking for the fourth…”
We say bring it on!
