Set in an old Victorian tram shed in Tooting Broadway the Tooting Tram & Social is a great pub that is also visually stunning and uniquely different. “An utter beauty of a pub!” (View London). Branded by it’s owners Antic, who also own another of my favourite pubs, The Antelope as the Uber Pub it certainly makes an impression as an impressive venue – with 75′ foot ceilings, tiled walls, giant Italianate chandeliers, leather sofas and great beer (although I wasn’t so keen on the wine choices). It is clear that this is much more of a student style pub but done properly setting itself apart from The Antelope. It has a great atmosphere and good clientele as well as a good choice of known lagers, a couple of good guest ales like UBU and a good selection of bottled beer including my favourite Meantime London Pale Ale.

The drinks are all very well kept and the pub is very well maintained to the Antic standard. During the day and even during the week there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy a pint with friends in the comfortable space. At the weekends with live bands, rocky-oke (like Karaoke but with a live band backing you up), comedy, DJs and more the Tooting Tram and Social is transformed into party central. I’ve been a few times and had an amazing time everytime as well as meeting some very friendly and approachable locals.

For drinks I prefer The Antelope which is a few doors down but for a party this really cannot be beaten, hence the long queues on certain nights. So get in early! You’ll find it sandwiched between the Bingo hall and a hairdressers down what looks like an alley way, but a quick look down to see the cute exposed light bulbs strung across it above some picnic benches and you’ll be enticed in like I have been on many occasions.
